Here is a brief look at the current fires burning in Colorado:
West Fork Fire Complex:
81,331 fire in the Wolf Creek Pass area west of South Fork. Zero percent containment with no structures burned. Lightning is believed to have started several fires in the area. Fire is threatening the town of South Fork, but firefighters think that aspen trees have slowed the fire enough that the town can be saved. The West Fork Complex consists of three wildfires, West Fork, Windy Pass, and Papoose.
East Peak Fire:
13,472 acre fire in the Spanish Peaks near Walsenburg. 70% containment and at least 13 structures have burned. Fire started on Wednesday June 19th and the cause is believed to be lightning.
East Fork Fire:
442 acre fire east of the town of Ridgway in southwest Colorado. Zero percent contained and was started early last Saturday morning by lightning. Pre-evacuations have been issued to an area with about 35 homes.
