Fire north of Beulah grows

The fire burning between Beulah and Wetmore has grown to 10 to 15 acres.

The Forest Service has added resources, including three aircraft.  Spokesman Steve Segin now reports two helicopters, four small aircraft and one large tanker involved.  The Beulah Fire Department and several other fire departments are helping, as well as a 20-member Type II firefighting team made up of trained prisoners from the Colorado Department of Corrections.

The fire is near North Creek Road between Beulah and Wetmore and about three miles inside the Custer County Line.

No evacuations have been reported.

The suspected cause is lightning.

There was also a small fire of about 1/10 of an acre about four miles to the north.
