Fire in Los Angeles county grows to 500 acres

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A brush fire sparked by a barn and trailer blaze in northern Los Angeles county has spread to at least 500 acres.
County fire inspector Don Kunitomi says Monday the fire is burning close to several ranch homes in Agua Dulce but there are no evacuation orders.
Kunitomi says a firefighter and a resident suffered minor injuries. The fire is burning near the Vasquez Rocks nature center, which has served as the backdrop for many Hollywood film and TV shows.
Within the city of Los Angeles a fire broke out about 4 p.m. close to Interstate 405 at the Sepulveda Pass, causing southbound lanes to slow to a crawl. Footage from television news helicopters show flames burning up a hillside in Mandeville Canyon, which is above the freeway, and away from homes.
