Fire east of Colorado Springs contained

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office reports full containment on a fire that started around 2 this afternoon.

The fire burned prairie land near Highway 94 and Curtis Road.  The cause is reported to be accidental.  A crew working on a culvert apparently started the fire.

In all 13 agencies responded to help fight the fire.  It burned 147 acres and was contained by about 3:30 p.m.

No homes or structures were damaged, but at one point 5 homes were threatened.  No residents, pets or livestock were injured.

Earlier we reported that number as 50 homes. For accuracy, there were 50 "structures" but just 5 of them were actual homes.
