The fire danger is back after taking a brief break this past weekend. A Red Flag Warning is in effect once again for southern El Paso County, Fremont County, Custer County, western Huerfano County, western Las Animas County, the Wet Mountains, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, eastern Las Animas County, and Baca County. This means weather conditions are favorable for fires to ignite and spread quickly. You should avoid outdoor burning if you can, and also remember to not throw cigarettes out of your window.
Today will be windy with bright sunshine and unseasonably warm temperatures. Highs will be in the 80's on the Palmer Divide, near 87 at Colorado Springs, with 90's to near 100 along the Arkansas River from Canon City and Pueblo east to La Junta, Lamar and Springfield.
The fire danger will subside later this week as the wind decreases. Rain will also increase across our area later this week, and the intense heat with which we start our week will also grow less intense.
