The Pueblo Sheriff's Office, Beulah Ambulance and Beulah Fire will hold an evacuation training seminar tonight at 6 p.m. at the Beulah Community Center.
Sheriff Kirk Taylor plans this as an event to let the citizens of Beulah know what to expect and what they should do during an evacuation. "Next to the displaced resident, no one wants people back in their homes more than the firefighters on the front line. This meeting is really to help us get in front of potential frustrations, so we are all working as a team right from the beginning," said Taylor.
Stage II Fire Restrictions remain in place in all of Pueblo County. The Pueblo County mountain communities of Beulah and Rye are inherently vulnerable to fires similar to others being reported across the state. In 2005, the Mason Gulch fire, forced the evacuation of many residents and destroyed over 12,500 acres in the Beulah area.
