Fire briefing update

Mayor Bach says 346 homes on 34 streets were destroyed by the Waldo Canyon Fire.

Mandatory evacuation areas expected to be lifted on east side of fire zone.

Good progress made in fighting the fire today.  Containment now at 10 percent and improving.

Seventy five firefighters will remain in fire area 24 hours a day to reduce travel time to fire lines.

Small number of people, less than 10, may be missing.  No search of damaged structures has yet been done.

Numbers of people at shelters: 

Cheyenne Mountain High School, 131

YMCA, 35

Lewis-Palmer High School, 35
