LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) - The federal government is letting victims of Colorado's September floods stay at hotels and motels a little bit longer if they need to.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says the new deadline for flooding evacuees to check out from hotels and motels will be Dec. 15, instead of Dec. 1.
The Longmont Times-Call reports that people receiving temporary hotel aid will get a phone call if they are eligible for the extension. The federal government and the state pay for room costs and taxes as part of the Transitional Sheltering Assistance Program.
