The 13th annual Feed the Children drew thousands of families to Springs Church.
The event is somewhat of a Christmas party to kick-off the holiday season. Families who are financially struggling are provided with boxes of food and blankets for each child. Kids had fun with a Home Depot arts and crafts center and got haircuts. All of the services were free.
Around 10-percent of the El Paso County population needs some sort of assistance, which is why organizers expected up to 10,000 people to participate in the all-day community event on Saturday.
"We really know who the people are that are living below the poverty level and it's our hope that we can serve all of those folks because we know they're really struggling," said Rebecca Jacobs with the Department of Human Services.
