Federal Prison south of Florence responds to threats

The Federal Bureau of Prisons released this statement in response to the situation in Fremont County.

"On May 16, 2014, at approximately 7:15 a.m., the Federal Correctional Complex in Florence, Colorado, received an anonymous phone call threatening to facilitate an escape of several inmates. We do not believe the threat is credible, but we did increase security measures at the facility to alleviate any possible concern from the community. Consistent with standard operating procedure, local law enforcement was notified; the Complex continues to operate on a normal schedule.
FCC Florence is working closely with federal and local law enforcement authorities to investigate the matter. "

Fremont County schools are on "lock out" status and local law enforcement is on the lookout for any unusual activity with officers at all the schools.
