Fatal fire could have been "drug related"

The Pueblo Police Department says the fire that killed a mother and her 3-year old child Wednesday morning could be "drug related".

Investigators say that arson has been ruled out as a cause, but say hazmat crews were called to deal with a possible drug situation.

The fire started around 4:30am at a home in the 300 block of  E. Evans. Two other occupants, a grandmother and a 5 year old were also injured in the fire. The 5-year old has been air lifted to a Colorado Springs hospital with injuries. The grandmother of the family was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

Pueblo County Coroner James Kramer identified the victims killed in the fire as Natasha Fiore, 25, and her son, Elijah Pino, 3. The autopsies are scheduled for tomorrow.

The home had 3 residential units inside, occupants of the other two units escaped safely.

The investigation is still on-going.
