Fatal Accident in Teller County

Colorado State Patrol is investigating a fatal accident on Highway-24 east of Florissant, that happened around 7 a.m.

They say a man, driving a Ford pickup truck traveling eastbound, veered into the westbound lane, and hit a school bus head on.

The driver of the pickup died on scene.

There were 52 kids on the bus, most of them under the age of 17. Seven kids were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The bus driver was uninjured.

Highway 24 at mile marker 273 will be closed for several hours while Colorado State Patrol inspects the scene.
