Fatal accident closes Hwy 24 near Buena Vista

The Colorado State Patrol says Highway 24, two miles east of Johnson Village is closed in both directions, while they investigate an accident that killed two people.

It happened just before 4:30 p.m. Troopers say a car was heading westbound on 24 when it crossed over the yellow line and hit a pickup truck head-on. Two people in the car were killed, the driver and a passenger in the backseat. The front seat passenger and two other bakseat passengers in the car were transported to the hospital. Their condition is unknown.

The driver of the pickup was also taken to the hospital, their injuries are also unknown at this time. Troopers say they expect Highwy 24 to be back open by 9:00 p.m.

The identities of the victims haven't been released.
