Farmers glad to see snow

The snow was a warm welcome to farmers, but is it enough?

We met with one Pueblo County farmer who says it's a welcome sight.

It wasn't snowing when Shane Milberger first got up this morning, but then it hit us.

"When we saw it coming down, it's always nice," said Shane Milberger. "Any moisture's going to help us."

It's a snow that could help out.

"This is a real wet snow, sort of reminds us of a March snow as much moisture as it has in it, so it's good for all of us," said Milberger. "Good for the ranchers, good for the farmers."

The snow in the mountains is more important.

"Because that's what's going to carry us through the summer is the snow that's in the mountains," said Milberger. "The snow here is just going to give us some submoisture, and get us going for this spring."

That's why this snow isn't quite enough.

"If we were to get this kind of snow everyday for the next month I think we would be in good shape, but we probably need maybe another 20 foot in the mountains," said Milberger.

As farmers, they remain hopeful they'll see more of what we had today.

Some farmers we talked to say they weren't expecting this much today.

They just need it to happen more often.
