News 5 has confirmed that a family of five from Buena Vista was hiking in the area of the landslide Monday in Chaffee County where five people were killed and a sixth person flown Children's Hospital in Aurora.
Church leaders with Cornerstone Church said 13-year-old Gracie Johnson was the only person to survive the landslide. She was hiking with her family along the popular Agnes Vaille Falls trail in the Mount Princeton area when a massive landslide came loose from the mountainside and trapped the hikers.
The identities of the other five people killed have not been released by officials, however church leaders told News 5 Tuesday morning they believe that four of the victims were the remaining members of the Johnson family. The fifth person killed has not been identified at this time.
Gracie Johnson's mother and father, Dwayne and Dawna Johnson were both coaches with the school district and members of Cornerstone Church.
The community will gather together to support one another and the Johnson family Tuesday morning at Cornerstone Church, which will open it's doors to the public at 7:00am. Church leaders said the Johnson family is very well known in the community and coping with such tragedy is especially difficult for the church community and the town of Buena Vista.
