Air Force pilot Martin Anthony Riggan and his wife, Nicole, died in a plane crash today at the Colorado Springs Airport. That's according to a family friend in Arkansas.

Riggan was a B1 Bomber pilot and stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City. He graduated from the Air Force Academy in 2007.

The small plane he was piloting crashed around noon in dense fog. Investigators have not said if that's what caused the crash---it could be months before the investigation is complete.

Riggan owned the plane.
