It's a week like no other at the Air Force Academy. It's Navy Week!
The 3-1 Falcons football team will be in beautiful Annapolis Saturday to begin the quest for the Commander in Chief's Trophy which goes to the winner each year of the Air Force, Army, Navy football series.
Lately Navy has dominated, winning the trophy and beating Air Force six years in a row. When Fisher DeBerry was Air Force coach winning the trophy was always the top goal in the program. Current head coach Troy Calhoun has lessened the emphasis somewhat but beating Army and Navy still means more to the players than anything else.
Air Force quarterback Tim Jefferson says, "I still think that our mindset is winning the Commander in Chief's Trophy is just as important as winning the Mountain West Trophy."
Falcon's safety Jon Davis adds, "The coaches haven't even been emphasizing how emotional this game has been, the players have. That's how I realized this is going to be the biggest game of the year."
Air Force and Navy kick off at 1:30 our time Saturday afternoon in Annapolis.
