Air Force quarterback Connor Dietz had surgery on Monday to repair a broken bone in his throwing hand. He had two pins inserted and will miss at least three weeks.

Dietz broke the bone on the fourth play of Saturday's Utah game. But he fought through the pain and finished the game.

Dietz and Tim Jefferson have both seen significant time at quarterback this season. Jefferson has been slowed since an ankle injury in the third game. Since that time Dietz has moved the offense more effectively.

But Jefferson will get the start this Saturday when Air Force travels to Fort Collins to face Colorado State. Junior Ben Cochran will be the backup quarterback. Tailback Asher Clark can also play quarterback in an emergency situation.
