It's a sure sign that summer is close to over. The Air Force football team is back on the practice field.
Head coach Troy Calhoun took the Falcons through their first practice Monday morning and by all indications it was a good session.
Senior quarterback Tim Jefferson said, It's great to be back here on the field. I think the first day of practice went well. We were pretty smooth and crisp for the first day. A lot better than the previous first days we've had in the last couple of days.">
Senior cornerback Anthony Wright added, "You hear all the expectations throughout the preseason. You try to block it out but you really can't. You just want to get on the field. And it's been so exciting to get out here and practice and see everybody back."
Calhoun enters his fifth season at Air Force. He's led the Falcons to four straight bowl games and this may be his best team yet. The Falcons are picked to finish third in the Mountain West Conference preseason poll.
Air Force opens the season September 3 against South Dakota at Falcon Stadium.
