Falcon High School has four students entering the school year coming off of national placings in the Health Occupations Students of American Conference.
Falcon High School took two Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) teams to the national conference - the teams previously earned first and second place at the state level. Both teams made the top 20 cut in the first round of the national HOSA competition and one team, Conner Jackson and Conner Anderson, finished in the top ten, beating out students from around the country to place ninth in the nation.
Competitive events range from medical reading and writing to creative problem solving to demonstrating skills in multiple health care worker scenarios. In each event, health care professionals serve as judges to evaluate students' understanding and knowledge of the various medical categories.
Falcon High HOSA participants who qualified for the national competition include Synde Williams, Carlie Finley, Trey Moore, Conner Anderson, Samantha Mangar, Josh Leyerle, Jordan Yee, Conner Jackson, Mason Garrett and Kristen Wilmsen.
The conference was held June 22-26 in Anaheim, California where students competed in their events and attended educational sessions.
