A new study on the local economy shows Pueblo is outperforming other cities in Colorado. The study was done by the Healy Center in the Hasan School of Business at CSU-Pueblo and well-known economist Tucker Hart Adams.

Adams spoke at the Pueblo Chamber of Commerce luncheon at CSU-Pueblo Thursday. She says compared to other cities in the state Pueblo has had a smaller amount of job loss. Also a smaller decline in new home construction and retail sales.

"So it was a surprise and I was pleased to see that in terms of most economic measures, Pueblo is doing better than Colorado Springs, than Denver, than the state as a whole," said Tucker Hart Adams.

In terms of unemployment levels Pueblo's numbers remain high. Adams says that's because a lot of people won't leave Pueblo even if they lose their job.
