While the Sand Gulch Fire continues to burn in the San Isabel National Forest near Wetmore, fire crews say progress is being made.
According to fire commanders at the scene, "Aerial and ground crews have made favorable progress with today's conditions. The fire is now 20% contained." Smoke is still visible from Pueblo to Wetmore. At this time, crews are saying about 550 acres have burned so far.
The Greenwood subdivision was evacuated for some time, but order was lifted at 8:00 pm Saturday night. Hwy 96 was also re-opened earlier in the day. The fire was first reported Thursday afternoon.
