Do you know if your children have high levels of lead in their blood?
Folks from the EPA out of Denver came to the Pueblo Health Department Thursday to offer free blood testing to children and adults.
Once they drew blood, results came back in just three minutes.
Testers tell us they wanted to focus on young children.
"From one to six their brains will absorb lead, and that lead stays in the brain forever. It can never be removed, and damage will be permanent."
For those children who tested high for lead, parents were told to take them to their family doctor as soon as possible for more tests and information.
Those with the EPA say if Thursday's event is successful they will consider more free lead blood testing in the future.
