Engineer - Lead Hydrographer - Pueblo

The Colorado Department of Natural Resources seeks an engineer to provide the hydrographic branch with a full range of engineering techniques involved with water measurement; to review the designs for water measurement devices to be used in water rights administration that have been proposed by professional engineers from other government entities and from consulting firms; to collaborate with government engineers and private interests involved in cooperative stream gaging programs with Colorado DWR; to provide expertise in the selection and use of instruments involved with flow data collection and telemetry; to develop published records of streamflow and to collaborate with the USGS WRD in quality assurance programs for the accuracy of published data; to supervise and train engineers, engineering technicians, and water commissioners to assure quality streamflow measurements and records; to assist the Division Engineer in accounting for annual deliveries and cost estimates associated with the Arkansas River Compact; to assist in forecasting water supplies in various watersheds throughout the division; to supervise the inspection and reconstruction or repair of gaging stations, controls, and cableways; to manage the Hydrographic related portions of any Decision Support System developed for the Arkansas River Basin; and to review water measurement related aspects of Water Court cases and act as an official representative of the Division of Water Resources in meetings, hearings, and trials related to water measurement.
