On Wednesday morning, the Pueblo Memorial Airport will be the location of a Mass Casualty Exercise.
The event will take place between 9 a.m. and noon.
Puebloans may notice an increase in the number of emergency vehicles in and around the Pueblo Memorial Airport during the exercise. This will likely include Colorado State Highway 96 East, but organizers of the drill do not expect any traffic delays in the area.
Pueblo Memorial Airport Director of Aviation Mark Lovin is pleased with the support he received from other agencies while planning the exercise. "We are grateful to the city employees and Great Lakes Airlines for their help. It is also great to have the kind of relationship we have with the City of Pueblo Fire Department; we count on them daily. What is extraordinary too, is seeing agencies such as the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program, the City-County Health Department, and the Pueblo West Fire Department come into this asking how they can help. The response community in Pueblo is certainly a collaborative group."
