Elderly woman drives on downtown sidewalk

An elderly woman left a trail of destruction in Downtown Colorado Springs Wednesday afternoon.

Colorado Springs Police(CSPD) says the situation happened on Tejon St. between Platte Ave. and Bijou St. around 3pm when the 80-year woman backed into another car. She then pulled forward and jumped her car onto the sidewalk going over a hundred feet before getting stopped.

Fortunately no one was injured. The car did take out a parking meter and two street lights. Southbound Tejon was closed briefly due to the accident.

No word on what charges the driver faces.
