El Pueblo threat suspects surrenders

A 22 year old man who allegedly made threatening calls to the El Pueblo Boys & Girls Ranch is now in jail.

Andrew Thomas Herndon turned himself into the El Paso County Detention Center Friday. Herndon is the main suspect in several calls and messages that were made to the Ranch last Wednesday, February 27. During the investigation, deputies listened to recorded messages that threatened the lives of the facility's staff.

According to PCSO Investigations Captain Jeff Teschner, "Our priority is keeping these students safe and that means taking the comments very literally."

Deputies were able to trace the messages to a cellular phone belonging to Herndon and after several media outlets reported the incident, Herndon surrendered.
