COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The El Paso County sheriff has told deputies to stop confiscating money for delinquent storm water fees.

Sheriff's deputies went to several Ace Loan pawn shops around Colorado Springs on Friday taking cash from registers and safes. The raid was the second in recent weeks that included the emptying of an owner's wallet.

According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, the unpopular fees were abolished in 2009, but that left about $760,000 in delinquent fees that needed to be collected from 7,600 property owners, which the city has slowly been doing over the past couple of years.
