El County Commissioners moved swiftly passing the first reading of strict regulations barring marijuana businesses in unincorporated parts of the county.
It happens just one month after voters in the state passed Amendment 64 to legalize marijuana in Colorado.

The law gives local jurisdictions the option to ban marijuana businesses.
With a 4 to 1 vote commissioners voted to pass the preliminary ordinance. They vote to finalize it in January.

What this ordinance does is prohibit the business aspect of marijuana. That is things like cultivation and retail sales. It does not change the recreational use of marijuana made legal under state law by the passage of Amendment 64.
