A cell phone taped to a Pepto Bismol bottle, and a knife and boxcutter.
Those are the 'suspicious' items found in the checked luggage of two men who flew aboard a United Airlines flight from Chicago to Amsterdam. One man went through security in Birmingham, Ala., on his way to Chicago. He was supposed to fly from Chicago to Virginia and then on to Amsterdam, but changed his plans to take a direct flight to Amsterdam, which raised suspicion among U.S. officials. The other man also changed his travel plans.
After their luggage was searched, Homeland Security notified Dutch authorities. The two men are charged in the Netherlands with
"preparation of a terrorist attack."
The men are identified as Ahmed Mohamed Nasser al Soofi and Hezam al Murisi.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says the two men were not on any terror watch lists.
