The El Paso County Sheriff's Office is stepping up DUI enforcement as we approach the July 4th weekend.

Additional patrols will be added July 2 through 5. Those officers will specifically look for drivers who may be impaired by drugs or alcohol.

On Saturday, July 3, beginning at about 8:30 the Sheriff's Office will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in southern El Paso County. Deputies will stop all vehicles passing through the checkpoint, contacting the drivers and conducting tests on anyone who is suspected of driving under the influence. The checkpoint is anticipated to end at approximately 2:00 a.m. July 4, 2010.
