Drug disposal program set for Saturday

On Saturday, September 25, the Drug Enforcement Agency is coordinating a one-day Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative. This is a nationwide event and will provide an opportunity for the public to dispose of medications.

The event will happen from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The DEA will provide the cardboard drug collection boxes and will be responsible for disposal and final destruction. Tablets, capsules, and all other solid dosage units will be collected. Intravenous solutions, injectables, syringes and illicit narcotics will not be accepted.

Two locations have been set for collection in Colorado Springs:

  • Police Operation Center 705 S. Nevada Ave
  • Stetson Hill 4110 Tutt Blvd.

In Pueblo medications can be dropped off at:

  • Pueblo County Conference Center 10th and Santa Fe
