Driver of suspected racing accident dies

The driver involved in a serious street racing crash earlier this month has died. Police officers say 34 year-old Jeffrey Hawthorne of Colorado Springs was racing back on April 15 along Academy Boulevard when he lost control and wrecked his 1997 Dodge Viper.
The car hit a boulder that was set in front of a gas station at the intersection with Constitution Avenue. Hawthorne's passenger, 28 year old Fallon Nava of Pueblo West was also injured.
