A Pueblo pedestrian who was killed Tuesday night was hit by two vehicles, a police investigation has revealed. One driver stopped, the other continued on.

Pueblo County Coroner Dr. Jim Kramer has identified the victim as Rita Pretiger, 50. She was pronounced dead at Parkview Medical Center. She died from multiple trauma.

Police Sgt. Dan Rutherford says the victim walked into the path of a car driven by Dolores Smith of Pueblo. Smith stopped her car immediately. However, a white full size truck traveling behind Smith ran over Pretiger and kept going. A witness positioned his truck and trailer so that no other vehicles could hit the victim.

The crash happened on East 4th St., midblock between Joplin and Kingston.

Police are seeking information on the driver of the white pickup truck.

No charges have been filed against Smith.

Police believe alcohol use by the victim played a role in the crash.
