Dragging victim identified

Murray is back open after hours of investigation by police into a strange dragging death this morning.  Parts of Platte are still closed.

The incident began late morning when a tow truck driver tried to tow a vehicle from the Hill Park Apartments in the 300 block of N. Murray.  While the man was under the vehicle, someone got in and drove away.  The tow truck operator was trapped under the SUV as it traveled up to Platte.  The man was reportedly screaming as he was dragged.  He got free near Babcock.  He was badly injured and later died.

Police have not determined if this was an accident or if the driver knew someone was being dragged.

Officers searched the whole route, more than a mile, for evidence.  Along the route they found blood and the man's clothes, and later the cable that was apparently hooked to the SUV before it drove away.

The man was identified as Allen Rose.  He worked for J & J Towing.
