The former President and Chief Executive Officer of the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, Dr. Wes Metzler, will be honored with a resolution recognizing his service by the El Paso Board of County Commissioners.
The resolution will highlight Dr. Metzler's 17-year tenure during which he "...successfully nurtured the growth of the Society from an organization housed in a collection of cinder-block buildings, with only outdoor dog kennels, to a state-of-the-art animal shelter."
The resolution next Tuesday will also reflect on Dr. Metzler's leadership, resourcefulness, innovation and accountability culminating in the Society's current status as a "...nationally-recognized leader in animal control, caring for nearly 35,000 animals annually through its divisions in Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Douglas County and Centennial."
