The year isn't yet half over, but so far the Colorado Springs Fire Department has been called 88 times for children locked in vehicles.
During all of 2009 it happened 181 times. In hot weather a child can overheat in a car very quickly. The Fire Department recommends keeping a spare key in a purse or wallet, or placing a hide-a-key somewhere under the vehicle.
If a child does get locked in a car, call 911 quickly.
