Doherty, Cheyenne Mountain win VB state titles; Palmer Ridge takes 2nd in boys soccer

Doherty won the 5A girls volleyball state title Saturday at the Denver Coliseum with a 3-0 victory over Grandview. In the 4A class, Cheyenne Mountain defeated Lewis-Palmer 3-1 for its fifth straight state championship.
In Saturday's 4A boys soccer final at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Palmer Ridge lost 1-0 in penalty kicks to Battle Mountain. Battle Mountain won the penalty kick portion 4-2.
