Dogs should be vaccinated against the flu too

Everyone has been talking about the flu a lot this season, but now a new flu is out there. This one is hitting dogs, so should you get your pet vaccinated?.

While people everywhere clamor to get the H1N1 vaccine. Veterinarians are also recommending people get their dogs vaccinated for flu too. It's not the swine flu, but the H3N8 virus, a new dog flu, that is a threat.

Just like in people, the symptoms for dogs include sneezing, stuffiness, fever, but many dogs will show no signs and act as a carrier." That's why, according to veterinarians, it's important for dogs spending time around other dogs to be vaccinated.

The dog flu is not often fatal, but dogs can develop dangerous things like pneumonia. The dog flu has actually been circulating for a few years, but vets are taking advantage of all the talk about other kinds of flu right now to raise awareness.
