A Colorado Springs dog has taken a bite out of crime.

Police report that a woman heard noises near her back deck Monday night and looked outside to see what was going on. When she moved away from the window, she was startled by a man standing in her bedroom doorway. The woman ordered the man to leave, but he ignored her.

He didn't ignore her dog, a pit bull. The woman's voice awakened the sleeping dog, which chased the man out of the house, located in the 100 block of Farragut Ave.

A police canine unit tracked the man, who was found hiding under a vehicle parked in a garage in the 1600 block of E. Bijou St. He was arrested. Police identify the suspect as Matthew Dangel, 28.
