Do you know what's in your food?

It's something many of us don't know when we head to the grocery store. There are foods that we eat that contain ingredients banned in other countries.

When you're navigating grocery store isles - you might never imagine there are food with the same ingredients used to make floors shine?

"Kids eat macaroni and cheese all the time you're eating cold tar" says certified nutritionist Mira Calton.

Red 40, Blue 1, Blue 2, Yellow 5, Yellow 6- all banned in other countries.

"They found that when they got rid of those colors - attention deficit went away, grades went up and now they don't put them in anymore."

Next up bread. Ever wonder what might be in that? It has what's called Azodicarbonamide.

"Everybody overlooks it because they don't know what it means... it's the same ingredient in your sneaker sole."

Calton co-authored a book with her husband that is now in 6,000 grocery chains nationwide. Inside is an isle by isle guide to help you make safe choices- and the duo is also now fighting to make food affordable for families.

"Manufactures only give you coupons for the junk foods... we want people they can afford to buy the healthier foods"

It took a six year expedition to 100 countries on seven continents to create the comprehensive list of the top 13 products that are forbidden by governments outside the U.S. Because of their detrimental effects on human health.

The Calton's have a website where you can learn more or find coupons for healthy foods.
