GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Authorities have recovered the body of a 12-year-old boy who went missing while tubing on the Colorado River.

Richard Irving Buchanan's body was pulled from the river Wednesday afternoon after it was spotted by a passing motorist on Interstate 70 near mile marker 107. That's about four miles downriver from where the boy was last seen.

The Denver Post reports Richard with family members Sunday afternoon when he became separated from his tube near the South Canyon Bridge.

Garfield County search and rescue teams spent four hours looking for him Sunday evening.

Richard was an immigrant from Jamaica who would have been in seventh grade at Glenwood Springs Middle School this fall.

His mother says Richard knew how to swim and wasn't wearing a life jacket.
