Lewis Palmer School District 38 in Monument is the latest district in our area to consider charging students for bus rides.
The district is currently gathering input about the plan which would tentatively begin in the 2012-2013 school year. Anyone in the Monument area is encouraged to vote in the online survey.
Possible fees range from a $0.50 per ride to a flat $35 per month plan.
The district will also hold three public meetings next month to gather input. Those meetings are set for February 7 at 7:00 p.m., February 8 at 5:15 p.m. and February 10 at 9:00 a.m. at the Administration Building at 146 Jefferson St. in Monument.
Falcon School District 49, Woodland Park School District Re-2 and Academy School District 20 have all passed bus fees.
