A large scale disaster drill is underway in Colorado Springs. Emergency responders from 35 city, county, state and federal agencies are participating in the drill in which a mock wildfire is burning on the west side of Colorado Springs.
Police cars and fire trucks are driving to the Broadmoor Bluffs neighborhood with lights and sirens on to maintain the realism of the event. Citizens who are participating are playing the role of evacuees and have been taken to a Red Cross shelter.
Drivers should expect occassional delays along Colorado Highway 115 between W. Cheyenne Rd. and South Academy Boulevard.
