CRESTONE, Colo. (AP) - Crestone residents say wildlife officials killed the wrong bear after a goat was mauled, leaving two cubs without a mother.

According to our affiliate in Denver, KUSA-TV, the owner of a ranch where the bear was shot kicked the wildlife officer off her land on Sunday and told him he wasn't allowed back without a warrant.

The owner and about 50 of her neighbors gathered on the property Monday and demanded answers from the Department of Parks and Wildlife.

The department says it is sure it killed the right bear.
