DIA wants $2 million for art project

DENVER (AP) - Denver International Airport is proposing one of the largest single purchases of public art in city history.

The airport says a $2 million sculpture by artist Ned Kahn will improve the experience of air passengers crossing between the main terminal and a new transit station and hotel going up on the airport's south side.

According to the Denver Post, the airport is one of Denver's busiest showcases for art.

More than 53 million people pass through the airport each year, and many of them have extra time to explore the buildings as they connect with their flights.
