Denver man accused of sending white powder letters

A Community College of Aurora employee is accused of sending threatening letters with white powder to members of Congress, the Argentine embassy in Washington, and Argentine consulates in Los Angeles and New York.
Jay DeVaughn of Denver was advised Monday that he faces a charge of mailing threatening communications. The college says the 41-year-old is on unpaid leave.
An arrest affidavit says some letters listed return addresses of people who said they didn't write the messages but had been receiving threatening calls and letters. The affidavit says a return address on letters mailed to members of Alabama's congressional delegation was that of a woman who taught DeVaughn in high school. She told investigators she didn't write the letter.
