A suspect faces an attempted first-degree murder charge after Denver police say he stabbed another man who helped a woman after she was allegedly pushed out of a car.

The Denver District Attorney's office on Tuesday announced the charge against 27-year-old Brent Ward and say he also faces charges of menacing and third-degree assault.

Police say a 36-year-old man who was walking his dogs last week saw a woman get pushed out of a car and came to her aid. The man walked the woman to a nearby home and prosecutors say that's when another man inside the home repeatedly stabbed the Good Samaritan in the neck.

The man is recovering from his injuries.

Police arrested Ward hours later. He is being held on $75,000 bail and is due in court on Oct. 21.
