DENVER - On Tuesday, Denver began public hearings on retail marijuana with little opposition.
Hearings are mandatory for businesses hoping to open up pot shops in Metro Denver.
Until 2016, only current medical-marijuana store owners in Denver can apply to open up a recreational store. The city had 136 applicants alone in October this year.
Denver voted to legalize medical marijuana in the 2012 election.
Colorado currently has 517 medical-marijuana dispensaries.
