Denver beats Colorado College 4-1

DENVER (AP) - Jason Zucker and Luke Salazar had a goal and an assist each as Denver beat Colorado College 4-1 on Friday.

The Pioneers (4-3-2, 3-1-1 WCHA) scored three times in the second period. Anthony Maiani and John Lee scored on the power play and Salazar scored 33 seconds after Lee for a 3-0 Denver lead.

Stephen Schultz had the only goal for Colorado College (3-5-1, 1-4-0) early in the third period.

Zucker scored into an empty net with nine seconds to play.

Freshman goalie Sam Brittain made 33 saves for Denver. Joe Howe stopped 25 for the Tigers.

The teams meet again Saturday in Colorado Springs for the second game of a weekend home-and-home series.
